A Change in Life

I have come to realize that I cannot always be a child.
It is time for me to grow up and face the world.
I can no longer climb on my mommy’s lap,
Because the boy next door teased me.

With these new events in my life forcing me to mature,
I am in between two crashing waves.
If I do not ride the waves,
I will be washed under them and remain the same forever.

It is the same way with life.
We must ride the waves of life to reach the future.
If we sit there and let the waves fall,
The world will only fall on top of us.

So I find it is time to choose,
With the waves surrounding me,
Do I ride the waves?
Or do I stay where I am, and be washed away by the world’s tide?

Ten days prior to Jen's death, Jen and her Mom were walking along this beach.  Jen expressed "that if anything ever happened to me, I would want to be cremated and brought back here to Old Orchard Beach, Maine."  We returned to Old Orchard Beach exactly one month to the day after her death to honor her wishes.
